A dry and stable air mass will bring low relative humidity to the state today, according to the service, which noted the warning goes into effect at noon. Combined with strong and gusty trade winds, fire weather conditions are expected.
The service anticipates northeast winds between 15 and 25 mph with gusts reaching 40 mph. Relative humidity could reach as low as 40 to 45 percent. Similar conditions are possible on Friday.
A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are occurring or forecast, according to the service. The warning does not predict new fire starts.
